MAN is expanding its global logistics centre in Salzgitter by 30 percent - in preparation for growth in zero-emission technologies, new models and the TRATON GROUP's joint modular system.

Our state-of-the-art logistics centre supplies our customers and workshops in around 120 countries with parts for our vehicles from Salzgitter at top speed

Michael Kobriger, MAN Truck & Bus Board Member for Production and Logistics

Plenty of space: the new building covers 53,000 square meters.

MAN is focussing on strong growth in zero-emission technologies. This also has an impact on logistics: in the coming years, up to 12,000 specific e-mobility components such as batteries will have to be kept in stock as spare parts - because more and more electric vehicles with the lion logo are on the road worldwide. Several hundred eTrucks from MAN alone are already travelling through Germany and Europe with zero local emissions, in addition to more than 2,000 fully electric buses around the world. And the trend is rising: by 2030, around 50 per cent of all newly delivered MAN vehicles are expected to be electrically powered.

Reliable: Spare parts are shipped from Salzgitter all over the world - up to 15 years after the start of series production.

However, hydrogen trucks and trucks with the highly efficient PowerLion diesel powertrain from the new 2025 model year also require spare parts that need to be delivered quickly - as do models that are based on the modular system shared by all TRATON brands, the TRATON Modular System (TMS). Not only the number of different components, but also their long-term availability is impressive: all spare parts for MAN vehicles of all drive types are available from stock in Salzgitter for up to 15 years after the end of series production. From the smallest screw to heavy engines and entire cabs.

Space for more than 220,000 parts

MAN is significantly expanding its logistics centre in Salzgitter in order to be able to reliably supply all customers worldwide with spare parts in the future. In mid-May, after a construction period of just one year, the site was extended by a further building section from which MAN can supply components for trucks, buses, vans and engines to customers and workshops all over the world. The new hall covers 53,000 square metres - about seven football pitches. This means that the logistics centre with its 800 employees will grow by almost a third to a total of around 235,000 square metres. In future, more than 220,000 parts will be stored there, which will be delivered within a very short time of being ordered.

Logistics center: Around 800 employees ensure that all parts are delivered in the shortest possible time.

Salzgitter's Lord Mayor Frank Klingebiel and Michael Kobriger, MAN Truck & Bus Board Member for Production and Logistics, were present at the opening ceremony for the expansion. ‘Our state-of-the-art logistics centre supplies our customers and workshops in around 120 countries with parts for our vehicles from Salzgitter at top speed,’ said Kobriger at the opening of the new construction phase. ‘The top priority of our spare parts logistics centre is to supply customers safely and quickly. This applies to millions of existing vehicles and also to the current models with alternative drive systems. To achieve this, we need more space and state-of-the-art logistics systems in addition to our highly qualified employees. This also strengthens MAN in Lower Saxony and makes the Salzgitter site fit for the future.’
