I spend more time in the new TGE than at home, so everything has to be perfect – and it is, “
There are many practical details that make the difference here. “Being able to access the toolbox from the side is much safer and more convenient, because we don’t have to climb into the back of the van so often,” said Barraclough. And then there’s also the external work lights, which make it possible to work with good light conditions even when the doors of the TGE are kept shut in winter and in bad weather.
- Hitachi Construction Machinery UK uses the TGE 3.180 4x4 with an optional winter package.
- Hitachi engineers travel throughout the UK to carry out maintenance and repairs.
- The vans are specially tailored to the customer's needs and offer side access to the tools.
We need our van every day – it's basically a work tool for us. We carry out our repair work in it and cover many kilometres every day. For us, it’s practically our office. “
Sought-after by customers throughout Europe
But it’s not just in the United Kingdom that the MAN TGE is proving how versatile and reliable it is. It’s doing the same thing throughout Europe – including in Poland, for example, where it is being used as an ambulance for the Falk Medycyna rescue service. In this case, the van is equipped with a 177 hp two-litre engine, modern medical equipment and special doors with 270-degree hinges for optimal patient access. And the special thing about it? Both the basic vehicle and the superstructure are manufactured entirely in Poland.
The volunteer fire department in Kargowa, Poland, also uses a customized MAN TGE. It serves as a support vehicle when searching for missing persons, for example, or analysing large fires. Equipped with bi-directional video conference technology as well as monitors for map and situation analysis, the vehicle enables rescue missions to be coordinated directly from the deployment location. “It is a custom order for us,” said Grzegorz Olejarz, a firefighter for the Kargowa Volunteer Fire Department. “We can genuinely say that it is a unique model, because there is not a single other vehicle with this configuration.”
The Belgian company Kalmar uses the MAN TGE as a mobile office and workshop for the maintenance and repair of forklift trucks and container stackers. Before placing its order, Kalmar first analysed the market and found that the van was the best available solution. The company was particularly impressed by the generous, fully equipped load compartment, which makes the van comfortable to drive even when fully loaded. “We need our van every day – it's basically a work tool for us,” said Jeroen, an engineer at Kalmar. “We carry out our repair work in it and cover many kilometres every day. For us, it’s practically our office.”
More TGE customer videos regularly on social media
In addition to Hitachi Construction Machinery UK, Kalmar, Falck Medycyna and the Kargowa Volunteer Fire Department, the MAN TGE has also impressed many other customers, including customers from Italy, France and Germany, as seen throughout the year on MAN Truck & Bus social media channels.
