Emergency Brake Assist EBA Plus

At a glance

  • Active protection in dangerous situations
Warns the driver ahead of impending collisions and automatically triggers emergency braking if required.
  • Increased protection for more vulnerable road users
Actively reduces the risk of accidents with pedestrians or cyclists who unexpectedly cross the vehicle’s path.
  • Automatic hazard warning function
Automatically activated hazard warning system (emergency stopping signal) signals a serious hazardous situation to vehicles behind.

Improved safety for more vulnerable road users

Automatic braking to emergency braking have already helped to significantly reduce the risk of collision with vehicles ahead. How does the system react when a pedestrian or cyclist suddenly appear? Enhanced Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) Plus now also detects particularly at-risk, more vulnerable road users early and reacts appropriately .

1
Innovative combination of radar sensor and camera

Emergency Brake Assist (EBA) Plus combines data from a radar sensor installed on the front end of the vehicle with data from a camera installed behind the windscreen. This smart sensor combination allows the system to detect potential hazardous situations more quickly and more accurately and therefore to react earlier and more reliably in an emergency. It constantly monitors the traffic area in front of the bus, detecting and evaluating the distances, positions and speeds of vehicles ahead and crossing pedestrians or objects.

2
Optical and acoustic warning

If there is a risk of collision, the driver is alerted by a clear visual and acoustic warning so that the driver can react in time. This applies at speeds over 10 km/h.

3
Initiation of emergency braking

If the driver fails to react to the warning signals, Emergency Brake Assist EBA Plus automatically initiates emergency braking. This effectively prevents rear-end collisions and collisions with pedestrians or cyclists. During automatic emergency braking, the system activates the emergency stopping signal (ESS) in addition to the brake lights. This special function of the hazard warning system signals the emergency situation to surrounding vehicles by an increased flashing frequency thereby reducing the risk of a rear-end collision.
