How the MAN AttentionGuard works
The MAN AttentionGuard system works in the background to help you become less focused. The function is divided into three central steps:
Combines visual detection of the direction of vision and the blinking of the eye with analysis of steering behaviour, for maximum precision.
Maximum data protection through local real-time processing without storage and possible manual deactivation by the driver at any time.
Fully meets the legal requirements of the General Safety Regulation (GSR) for all new registrations from July 2026.
The system represents a technological development of the proven MAN AttentionGuard system. As a modern MAN Driver Monitoring System, it offers decisive added value by integrating a camera in the A-pillar: It detects not only classic signs of fatigue, but also active distraction.
We know that workplace trust is fundamental to safety. That is why the MAN Driver Monitoring System is designed to assist the driver without placing restrictions on them. The decision on whether to use it remains with the driver: The system can be deactivated manually at any time [attention-guard].
Whether in long-haul transport with the MAN TGX, in dense distribution transport with the MAN TGL and MAN TGM, or in heavy local and distribution transport with the MAN TGS: The system plays a key role in improving safety in everyday fleet operations – including for our all-electric eTrucks.
The MAN AttentionGuard system works in the background to help you become less focused. The function is divided into three central steps:
A camera in the A-pillar continuously detects the driver’s gaze direction and blink rate. Thanks to infrared technology, this also works reliably in difficult light conditions or during night driving.
The software combines the optical data with information on steering behaviour and directional stability. The MAN Driver Monitoring System logic uses uses intelligent tolerance periods to distinguish between necessary gaze deviations (e.g. checking the rear-view mirrors) and safety-critical distraction.
If a critical level of fatigue or an excessively long gaze deviation is detected, a warning is issued. Visual indicators in the central display and acoustic signals redirect the driver’s attention back to the road.
Trust is the basis for security. For this reason, the MAN Driver Monitoring System operates as a fully closed system:
No remote access:
There is no interface for external access to the live signal – neither for the fleet operator nor for third parties.
Privacy:
The system serves exclusively to support driving safety and is not intended for driver behaviour monitoring.
