The MAN i6X opens up a new performance range for yachts and sport fishing boats. With a displacement of 12.4 litres, a top output of 1,000 hp (735 kW) and a maximum torque of 3,250 Nm, the engine is designed for applications in which power, dynamics, weight and installation space interact closely together.
The basis is the proven technical platform MAN D2676, known in the yacht and sport fishing sector as the MAN i6. Many common parts with the existing six-cylinder series as well as identical customer interfaces support integration into existing ship concepts and maintain familiar structures in maintenance and operation.
Four arguments for the MAN i6X
Up to 1,000 hp from 12.4 liters
The new top output level with 735 kW expands the previous MAN i6 portfolio upwards. In addition, a variant with 900 hp (662 kW) will be available.
Dynamics in the lower speed range
The maximum torque of 3,250 Nm is quickly available and supports agile acceleration and immediate response when manoeuvring.
Compact design, high power density
With 0.8 hp/kg (~0.6 kW/kg), the MAN i6X combines high performance with a compact design and almost the same dimensions as the MAN i6.
Proven platform logic
The high proportion of identical components supports the technical maturity of the concept and transfers proven design principles to the new power range.
More performance with reduced system complexity
The central feature of the MAN i6X is a newly developed turbocharging concept that achieves high performance values with a single-stage system.
The MAN i6X still requires only one turbocharger. MAN Engines is thus pursuing an independent approach in this performance class: performance and dynamic response are combined with deliberately limited complexity and reduced specific weight.
For stable operating conditions under high load, the relevant functional areas have been further developed. These include an adapted thermal management system, an advanced charge air cooling system and an extended oil cooling concept that is controlled according to demand.
Dynamics for yachts and sport fishing boats
The MAN i6X is designed for situations in which immediate response of the drive is required – for example, when accelerating, manoeuvring or dynamic load changes.
The rapid availability of maximum torque supports agile acceleration behaviour, especially in the lower speed range. The MAN i6X thus provides increased performance not only in the nominal power range, but also where dynamics are immediately noticeable in operation.
Easier integration
Dimensions that are almost identical to those of the MAN i6 and identical customer interfaces support integration into existing ship concepts.
For shipyards and system integrators, additional degrees of freedom are created in the design of yacht and sport fishing applications. Particularly where performance, dynamics, weight and integration effort interact closely together, the MAN i6X opens up new options on a proven technical basis.

Designed for international markets
The MAN i6X is intended for use in international markets and will meet relevant emission requirements.
The new engine type will meet the requirements of IMO Tier II, EPA Tier III and the EU Recreational Craft Directive 2013/53EU. This means that the MAN i6X can be used under different regulatory conditions.

MAN Engines will present the MAN i6X from 8 to 13 September 2026 at Vieux Port, Jetée Nord, Jetée 193.
Series availability is planned from the first quarter of 2028.
