Theory:
- Safety aspects
- The physics of driving
- Assistance systems
- Tyres
- Braking distances
- Gearboxes and axles
- All-wheel drive
- Driving with trailers
- Load
Practice:
- Travelling through a circular path with slowly increasing speed until tipping over
- Driving through a tight curve (motorway exit)
- Countermeasures to avoid tipping
- Experience tipping in a curve circular path
- Demonstration of an unbraked emergency lane change
- Performing a braked emergency lane change
- Manoeuvring exercises with solo vehicle
- Cornering with solo vehicle and, for comparison, with a loaded semi-trailer tractor
Course objective:
Participants learn and experience the basic principles of driving physics in theory and practice.
The aim is not to provoke borderline situations, but to consciously recognise and avoid them.
Funding by BAG and BG.
