Eight times to the moon with an MAN TGX

It is a number that amazes even experienced logistics specialists: The MAN TGX 18,360 speedometer from 2008 covered 3,266,208 kilometres. This corresponds to about eight times the distance between the earth and the moon. In other words: The MAN TGX may have circled the equator almost 82 times. This makes the truck from Osthavelland Transport GmbH from Managing Director Helmut Heckmann the lion truck with the most kilometres driven in Europe – and thus the winner of the first "MAN Truck Max Mileage Master 2025".

The competition, which was launched on social media and online, was aimed at all MAN customers in Europe with vehicles built from 2007 onwards – and it proved how reliable the Lion truck is. The result exceeded all expectations: More than 70 submissions were received, including many trucks with more than one million kilometres on the speedometer. The range ranged from year of manufacture 2007 to 2019 – proof of durability across different vehicle generations.

Particularly impressive: The total mileage of all submitted vehicles totals over 75 million kilometres. This corresponds to about 100 round trips to the moon or more than 1,800 complete orbits. The "MAN Truck Max Mileage Master 2025" impressively underlines the endurance and performance of the MAN truck fleet in Europe, which has around 880,000 vehicles.

The winning recipe for success: good quality, good care and good staff

The winning truck has belonged to Osthavelland Transport GmbH since the first kilometre and is still used today in classic long-haul transport – in two-man operation, in which two drivers alternate. This intensive use made the enormous mileage possible. "I was curious to find out whether there are other companies that have been operating their trucks for so long. Thanks to good quality, good care and good staff, damage can be avoided. The trucks are reliably on the road," reports Helmut Heckmann.
