HE DELIVERS EVERYTHING NEEDED FOR FENCING AND HORTICULTURE WITH HIS MAN TGS.

Marthall Tree Products is one of the largest timer suppliers in North-West England. Steve Corke and his truck colleagues transport fencing and horticulture materials every day with their new MAN trucks – from the picturesque coastline into the heart of the country.

Two new MAN vehicles were added to the fleet at Marthall Tree Products. The robust MAN TGS with D15 engine are optimally tailored to the requirements of their trips: they feature a steerable rear axle, tailor-made ladders for safe access and a sophisticated operating concept. A 6.4-tonne crane with a range of 8.1 metres completes the equipment and makes the work considerably easier. Professional driver Steve had clear ideas about what his new Lion should have:

It’s the best truck I’ve ever driven. Tom, our Operations Manager, even involved me in the planning, which was a great idea. That’s how we got exactly what we needed.

The former mechanic has lots of knowledge to contribute on this topic, as he has always been enthusiastic about technology and trucks.

The new MAN trucks transport a wide range of materials for fencing and horticulture: sawn wooden posts, gate posts, fence elements, sleepers, decking and tongue and groove boards. But concrete posts, steel gates or artificial turf are also on the delivery list – everything that Marthall Tree Products customers need. Nevertheless, the truck driver remembered a special trip: “The delivery for the tiger enclosure at Knowsley Safari Park was something quite out of the ordinary. I drove past lions in the truck.” He adds jokingly: “But I’m sure the animals are fed well.”

It’s not just in everyday life that Steven has his highlights. He is also enthusiastic about his MAN. A special feature of the MAN TGS is the steerable rear axle, which significantly reduces the turning circle – a crucial advantage on narrow driveways. There are custom-made ladders on both sides of the body for easy access. Practical: the PTO can be controlled via external control buttons, which makes everyday work noticeably easier. Steven quickly sums up what makes up his MAN: "The MAN TGS is very comfortable to drive and offers excellent visibility: The cameras give me confidence while driving and are extremely useful."

It is clear to see that he enjoys his job and feels comfortable at Marthall Tree Product. “This is not an anonymous job. I really like to be in contact with our customers or also with my colleagues in the warehouse,” says Steve. “I also like to get involved and drive the forklift myself when everyone is busy.”

And at Marthall Tree Products, drivers are important, and Steve enjoys working there: "It’s a great company that you enjoy working for, you feel valued and recognised. Tom’s door is always open if there’s a problem. The team rarely changes, and most employees have been with the team for over 10 years. There’s a friendly family atmosphere and I can't imagine working anywhere else!”
