Sascha Lanzerath named his truck Christine after the horror thriller of the same name from 1983. In the film, a young man falls in love with a classic car and slowly takes possession of it. Sascha sees the name as a happy omen. In his life, too, everything revolves around a vehicle: his MAN TGX. But unlike the ominous film duo, the inseparable couple from Rhineland-Palatinate only spread joy – among customers and on social media.
Sascha named his lime-green MAN TGX 26.470 from 2022 Christine. What seems a bit strange at first. But the professional driver sees a strong parallel to the film and enthuses about his lion: "My Christine is the best truck in the world for me. I wouldn't exchange it for anything in the world. I like it as it is. At most, I’m thinking about a few new enhancements. Soon, for example, bear heads from my favourite club EHC Neuwied will decorate the cab," laughs the ice hockey fan from Rhineland-Palatinate.
Why is his truck so perfect for him? With the spacious interior, the comfortable standard equipment and personal feel-good accessories like his home club’s ice hockey crest and the Anaheim ducks on the leather floor or a large cube with the names of his wife Julia and sons Jason and Marc on the windscreen, Sascha has everything on board to feel at home as a professional driver even in the distance. Together he and Christine drive through thick and thin, or rather from A to B to everywhere, according to the words of his employer, Scheidweiler-Flohr GmbH.
The freight forwarder is located in the heart of Europe between Ruhrpott, Cologne-Bonn and the Rhine-Main region. From there, the company offers a reliable, global logistics service. In addition to transport logistics, the range also includes modern warehouse logistics, the coordination of air and sea freight, customs clearance, general cargo service and attractive full service.
The freight forwarder’s customers also include the German Football Association, the German Handball Association and winter sports associations. Sascha occasionally drives his MAN TGX to the football stadiums of the 1st and 2nd league or to the snowy Alps, where he delivers accessories for a biathlon competition on steep mountain roads. Sascha loves these tours: "Of course, some journeys are extreme. But constantly discovering new places and landscapes motivates me. In which other profession do you get around so much? I love this freedom," says the 43-year-old.
Thanks to dedicated employees like Sascha, Scheidweiler-Flohr GmbH can offer modern, advanced logistics. In any case, the good-humoured trucker is up to date. For example, he uses his mobile phone to meet up with friends and colleagues in parking lots for breaks together or to chat with the community when the time on the road gets long.
Sascha’s own TikTok channel “Kawalanzi” also proves that the trucker community is important to him. There, he inspires followers with posts about his favourite ice hockey club, where his son celebrates sporting successes, or his family, which also includes a Labrador retriever and Cat Zeus. However, Christine plays the main motorised role in his life, which he turns into a social media star with humorous and entertaining clips from his Truck Life – with no fear factor.
