Social sustainability

Focusing on people

Our values are at the centre of our actions. This includes team spirit, respect and responsibility. We promote diversity and equal opportunities in all corporate areas, because we want to continue to attract talented and competent employees in the future and offer them development opportunities. MAN is also committed to social concerns in society.

OUR GOALS

  • To accept social responsibility
MAN is involved in the community, beyond its business activity.
  • Championing diversity
There is zero tolerance of discrimination: our employees are encouraged to bring their own individual skills to MAN.
  • To improve product and traffic safety
We can increase traffic safety in the future through further training and innovations.

FOCUS ON DIVERSITY AND EQUAL OPPORTUNITIES

MAN takes diversity and equal opportunities very seriously. Accordingly, we are continuously developing our corporate culture and we encourage our employees to actively contribute their diverse skills, knowledge, experience and perspectives to our company. To this end, we have founded a “Diversity & Inclusion” department, with the aim of establishing a diverse and inclusive culture in the company.

MAN is also focused on ensuring equal opportunities for all employees. For example, we provide support for up-and-coming female experts and managers through HR development measures such as the mentoring programme or orientation events to encourage potential female candidates to pursue a management career. And we are working on improving work-life balance. MAN offers a range of flexible working models, as well as the opportunity to switch a full-time position into two part-time positions. We also offer part-time models for managers too.

Faces of Diversity

Prejudices, discrimination and intolerance have no place at MAN. That’s because, at MAN, we are convinced that every person should be treated fairly and with respect. This means that we accept the diversity of characteristics that make each one of us unique and yet also interconnect us. That’s why we regularly introduce MAN employees in our “Faces of Diversity” interview series.

Continuous further training and qualification

As part of MAN’s transformation, our working methods, working environment and the types of collaboration, communication and management conduct are also changing. That’s why we have developed measures for the continuous further training and qualification of our employees. This also applies to our managers: to ensure that they are still able to contribute new ideas regarding management issues, and can discuss these with each other, we have switched our qualification offering from in-person events to online events. The focus here is on topics such as management in transformation as well as plurality and inclusion.

COMMITTED TO SOCIETY

It is the people who make a company. That’s why people are always the focus of all our activities. This includes our employees as well as our partners and customers. We are also committed to giving something back to society – such as through different partnerships and our commitment to employees in road traffic.

Good working conditions in road traffic

MAN wants to help improve working conditions for employees in road traffic as well as compliance with legal provisions. That’s why we are participating in the “Responsible Trucker Initiative”. This is based on the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals, in particular “Good Health and Well-Being,” “Gender Equality”, “Decent Work and Economic Growth” and “Industry, Innovation and Infrastructure”.

Partnership with the SOS Children’s Villages and Malteser Hilfsdienst non-profit organisations

Since 2008, MAN has been working in partnership with the SOS Children’s Villages voluntary organisation. As part of this partnership, we invite children to unforgettable experiences, such as going to a match at FC Bayern Munich. MAN also supports this non-profit organisation financially in national and international programmes. In addition to SOS Children’s Villages, MAN also supports the Malteser Hilfsdienst non-profit organisation. If a major emergency is declared in Bavaria, MAN provides them with commercial vehicles quickly and without red tape, to help transport relief goods.

SAFETY IS THE PRIORITY

As a commercial vehicle manufacturer, we consider ourselves responsible for increasing road safety and simplifying our employees’ daily work through our solutions. As a “smart innovator”, we therefore rely on intelligent driver assistance systems and aim to become a pioneer in this field with our pilot projects on autonomous driving. One thing is clear: we want to make MAN products even safer, more efficient and more innovative.

In developing our eBus fleet, the issue of safety takes top priority in all stages of development. Our expertise is bundled in the “House of Safety”, which covers all safety subjects. Particular attention is given to the battery packs: for the electrification of our vehicles, we use fully developed battery cell technology from the corporate matrix, which ensures the reliability and safety of the batteries. Simulations and extensive crash tests ensure that we meet the highest safety requirements.
