Workshop explored strategies to meet UAE Vision 2021 road safety targets
Dubai, UAE, 30. February 2017: Affirming its strong commitment to increasing safety on UAE roads, Abu Dhabi Police, in partnership with MAN Truck & Bus and RoadSafetyUAE, hosted a workshop on road safety that explored how heavy vehicles can contribute to making the country’s roads safer and help meet the road safety targets outlined in UAE Vision 2021.
Held over two days at the Abu Dhabi Directorate of Traffic and Patrols, the event brought together several road safety stakeholders from the Abu Dhabi Police, senior representatives from MAN Truck & Bus Middle East, owners of heavy vehicles operating companies, as well as partners of RoadSafetyUAE.
The event highlighted Abu Dhabi Police’s initiatives to meet UAE Vision 2021 road safety targets, as well as ongoing efforts by MAN to increase road safety, both by building safety into its trucks and fostering a culture of safe driving through its ProfiDrive® training program. Among the event’s highlights was an interactive iPad-guided ‘Road Safety Walk Around’, showcasing the latest road safety technologies on a truck.
The event shed light on the importance of efficient implementation of regulatory guidelines and providing training and education to drivers, transport operators and enforcement officers, to boost road safety and reduce vehicle-related deaths and injuries.
The event featured insightful presentations that offered an in-depth look at key factors impacting road safety from a commercial vehicle perspective such as Load of the Vehicle, Driver Alertness, Worn Tires, and Incorrect / Incomplete Maintenance.
