MAN Truck & Bus SE has organized a free competition called “MAN Truck Champions 2023”.
It should be noted that the competition has been designed and managed solely by MAN Truck & Bus SE and its owned National Sales Centers (as enlisted in Article 3 of these terms & conditions), without any involvement or intervention by Facebook® or Instagram, which guarantees only the communication of the competition on its platforms.
The competition will open on 11 May 2023 and close on 8 July 2023, and will be divided into three distinct phases as explained below.
The competition will open on 11 May 2023 on the Facebook & Instagram social network as well as on Trucker´s World by MAN channels & websites and will close during the MAN Trucknology Festival 2023 in a final where the 5 European finalists will be awarded in an official ceremony.
The competition will run in three phases:
A – Applications: Candidates will apply on the respective local landing page, linked to from all local MAN Facebook & Instagram channels between 11 May & 28 May 2023 (midnight).
B – Selection / Voting Phase 1: The best candidates per country (“Local Competition”) will be selected by public vote on the respective local landing page, linked to from all local MAN Facebook & Instagram channels. This phase of selecting the best candidates per country will run from May 31 to June 11 2023 (midnight). The winners per country will be awarded with adequate prizes, which are determined by the MAN subsidiaries and listed on each local landing page.
C – Selection / Voting Phase 2: The 5 best European candidates including the winner (“European Competition”) will be chosen by public vote on the respective local landing page, linked to from all MAN Facebook & Instagram channels. This phase of selecting the best of 5 European candidates will run from June 15 to June 25 (midnight).
Each finalist, if he/she is one of the top 5, will be contacted directly after voting phase 2 to inform them about their participation in the final, to discuss further actions and to confirm their participation in the award ceremony in Munich.
If no response is received from one or more of the 5 finalists within two days, the finalist in question will be deemed to have been eliminated from the European competition and will be replaced by the next-placed participant.
Physical participation in the MAN Trucknology Festival 2023 in Munich (6 – 8 July 2023) is desired but not mandatory for the European Top 5.
D – Finals / Award Ceremony: During the weekend of the MAN Trucknology Festival 2023 from July 6 – 8, 2023, the official award ceremony will take place and prizes (listed below) will be awarded to the 5 finalists, who are asked to attend the ceremony scheduled for July 8 2023 at the MAN Trucknology Festival in Munich (MAN Truck Forum, Dachauer Str. 570, 80995 Munich). Award ceremony will be hosted midday on July 8, 2023.a
MAN Truck & Bus SE reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions to extend, shorten, modify or cancel the competition in the event of force majeure or if there are fewer than 5 competitors per country, or if circumstances beyond the company’s control make it necessary, and shall not be held liable in this regard.

The competition is open to natural persons of legal age who own or operate an MAN truck that is registered in one of the countries where MAN Truck & Bus SE is running an owned European subsidiary:
Austria, Belgium, Czech Republic, Denmark, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Italy, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom
The applicant has to own or drive a heavy range MAN truck of at least 18 tons net weight that is decorated or personalized (i.e. airbrushed) and/or customized (i.e. has additional exterior or interior features). Both the interior and the exterior of the truck can be taken into account in the competition.
In case the applicant is not the owner of the truck he/she has to get permission by the owner of the truck to apply for the competition.
The following are not permitted to enter the Competition:
Members of staff of MAN Truck & Bus SE and subsidiaries, all other branches of the MAN Truck & Bus SE Group and its distribution network and services in Europe, and individuals who have participated in designing, implementing or managing the competition, whether directly or indirectly, and members of their family (living under the same roof).
Information communicated by the participants is relayed to the organizing company via the MAN Truck & Bus SE landing page for this competition.
By participating, all candidates confirm that they have read, understood and unreservedly agreed to all the competition terms and conditions, including the information relating to personal data, from the moment they register and therefore participate in the competition. Non-compliance with these terms and conditions will result in participation being terminated and the right to any awarded prizes will be waived.
These terms and conditions can be consulted at any time during the competition on the MAN Truck & Bus SE landing page for the competition; candidates may save or print a copy of the full document if necessary.
The trucks entered in the competition must comply with all legislation currently in force: images and decorative elements that are racist in nature, defamatory to others, political, or contrary to public order and common decency will not be accepted.
Images that are pornographic or misleading for a wide audience will not be accepted in this competition.
Copyright and intellectual and/or industrial property rights must be respected when designing the visuals on the truck’s decorative elements (authorization from the rights holder, whether this is an institution, company or author, if an element subject to intellectual and/or industrial property rights is reproduced).
All participants must ensure that photos submitted to be placed online and for the purposes of participation in the competition are new and original contributions. This excludes any distribution, compilation, reproduction, representation or plagiarism of pre-existing elements that are the property of third parties.
Text and photo publications will go through a process of moderation, in order to ensure they comply with:
Any photos that do not meet these criteria will not be considered for participation in the prize draw and participants disqualified on this basis will not be entitled to any prize.
If, despite this moderation process, photos are placed online without the consent of third parties and consequently in breach of their image rights, participation in the competition will also be terminated in accordance with Article 8 of these terms and conditions.
In order to participate in the competition, each candidate must, during the period stated in Article 2, register via the application forms available on the MAN Truck & Bus SE landing page(s):
Please note that only the owner of the submitted vehicle or one of their employees with their permission may submit the vehicle for entry.
Selection of the winner per country
The winners per country will be selected via public vote on the respective local landing page, linked to from MAN Facebook & Instagram channels. The vote will result in the best of 3 per country incl. 1 designated winner.
Winners (best 3 competitors) will be contacted by the respective MAN Truck & Bus subsidiary (NSC) via email or telephone, the announcement of the winners will be done in all MAN online channels and via Trucker´s World by MAN channels and print media, as well as other MAN publications (e.g. print media).
Selection of the 5 European finalists
All winners (1st place) per country will be contacted and must confirm his/her attendance at the final vote for the overall European winner again, within 5 days of his/her nomination. If a candidate does not confirm his/her attendance within the 5 days, the candidate will be deemed to have waived their place as a European finalist and it will instead be allocated to the next best-placed candidate per country.
The physical attendance at the MAN Trucknology Festival 2023 in Munich (July 6 – 8 2023, award ceremony on July 8, 2023 midday) is requested for participating in the final round of the competition on European level.
The photos of the 5 decorated and/or customized MAN truck finalists will be published on all MAN Truck & Bus SE online & offline channels as well on all Trucker´s World by MAN channels / publication plus online & offline channels of all MAN Truck & Bus subsidiaries for various occasions. In addition every MAN subsidiary and MAN Truck & Bus SE may allow local & international press to use the pictures for corresponding reporting.
Candidates who have not provided all the required elements (list above) to participate in the Competition will not be eligible.
All local winners will be receiving prizes defined by the respective MAN subsidiary. The winners receive the following prizes
Besides that the best European contestants (Top 5) will receive additional prizes, according to their final ranking in the European competition:
*Note: The MAN Individual voucher can be redeemed when purchasing a new truck. Retrofits of an existing truck cannot be paid for using this voucher.
** Note: The following applies to vehicles registered for road traffic: If accessories are installed on the participating vehicle, installation and use must comply with the regulations of the respective country of use and the applicable road safety regulations.
While attending the MAN Trucknology Festival 2023 in Munich and the award ceremony on July 8, 2023 (midday), the 5 finalists will be gifted a maximum two-night stay in a double room with breakfast at the Leonardo Royal Hotel (all other charges must be borne by the finalists, included only is accommodation and breakfast).
Under certain circumstances, the finalists may be asked to bring their truck to the award ceremony in Munich. In this case, financial compensation of € 1,500 per day of business interruption will be granted for a maximum of 3 days.
Besides that no other cost will be taken over by MAN, such as cost for restaurants, gas, street charges or tolls, transport cost etc.
The winners per country as well as the 5 European finalists will be contacted and informed about their win by MAN Truck & Bus SE via email or phone according to the schedule set out in Article 2.
In the event that the information provided by a candidate is incorrect or taken from another person, this winner will permanently waive their right to participate in the competition and, as a result, the right to receive their prize. In such a case, the waived prize will be reallocated to a participant whose entry fully complies with these terms and conditions.
Candidates generally agree that they may be the subject of internal and external communications connected with the competition (interviews, photos, videos and such) and distributed by MAN Truck & Bus SE and its subsidiaries listed in article 3. In addition every MAN subsidiary and MAN Truck & Bus SE may allow local & international press to use the pictures for corresponding reporting.
Subject to their image, reputation and/or privacy not being jeopardized, candidates freely grant this authorization, without any restriction on the number of reproductions and/or distributions of their image, for the entire duration of the competition and for the 10 years following the event, without this entitling them to payments, rights or benefits of any kind other than the allocation of their prize.
In addition, as a candidate registered in the competition of your own free will, you accept that photos of your truck will be sent to MAN Truck & Bus via the MAN Truck & Bus SE landing page.
Consequently, during the competition the candidate may appear in video and audio recordings, which will be used independently in the press, on social networks and/or in the internal and external communications of MAN Truck & Bus SE and its subsidiaries.
The candidate also confirms that they are not subject to any contract with a third party relating to the use of their image and that of the MAN truck they have entered in the competition that could obstruct the distribution of communications connected with their image and that of the MAN truck entered in the competition.
It is understood that the organizing company and its beneficiaries reserve the right to either use or not use the photo.
In addition a photo shooting of all winners is planned by a professional photographer after the voting is done and over. MAN Truck & Bus SE will also use these pictures in all means of offline & online communication, in all MAN channels and publications, and will also allow local & international press to make use of these pictures.

All participants are informed that collected data (photos and information, also on applicants) are stored by MAN Truck & Bus SE and are necessary for implementing the different phases of the competition.

RESPONSIBILITY
MAN Truck & Bus SE shall not be held responsible in the event of force majeure or any other event connected with weather conditions or health conditions that partly or completely prevent the selected candidates from participating in the award ceremony at Trucknology Festival in Munich from July 6 – 8, 2023.
GUARANTEES AND MODIFICATIONS
In the event of force majeure, as mentioned above, MAN Truck & Bus SE reserves the right to amend these terms and conditions without being held liable, and the candidate accepts these potential modifications from the time of their registration and during their participation in the competition.
MAN Truck & Bus SE also reserves the right to cancel, terminate or modify the competition in the event that it does not progress as planned: infringements, non-authorized interventions, fraud, technical problems or any other cause beyond the control of MAN Truck & Bus SE that changes and affects the administration, security, fairness, integrity or running of the competition. Any incomplete or inaccurate entry will be rejected without MAN Truck & Bus SE being held liable. Any false statements by a participant will result in their exclusion from the competition without MAN Truck & Bus SE being held liable. MAN Truck & Bus SE reserves the right to moderate a posteriori and to not approve, or even exclude, any participant who does not comply with any part of these terms and conditions.
This competition and these terms and conditions are subject to German law.
Any dispute may be settled by recourse to a conventional mediation process or any other alternative means of dispute resolution.
In the event of persistent disputes relating to the interpretation and application of these terms and conditions, and in the event that an amicable agreement cannot be reached, the dispute will be submitted to the competent courts.
