For pleasant day-to-day driving

The digital mirror replacement system and the new air suspension control: Two systems that support you on the road and take the strain out of your work.

With their extended mirror views, the digital exterior mirrors support the driver in critical driving situations. The problem with obstructed visibility caused by the mirror arms has now been solved.

MAN OptiView

With the truck through the city: This is sometimes a high-precision task, where a driver needs a safe view of the traffic and the surroundings of his vehicle at all times. MAN OptiView guarantees them an optimal overview. Our digital mirror replacement system performs much better than ordinary exterior mirrors.

Thanks to the exterior cameras, the blind spot on the driver’s and co-driver’s side is reduced to a minimum. And since the mirror arms are dispensed with, there are no more restrictions of the direct field of vision. For more demanding driving manoeuvres such as shunting, lane changes and turning, the system offers extended views with zoom factor, thus offering a comprehensive view of the traffic situation down to the last detail.

Remote operation of air suspension control

New air suspension control

Rear axles with air suspension have long been a standard in long-haul transport. However, the possibilities and benefits of air suspension are now increasingly being used in various other segments. The new electronically controlled VASC (Vehicle Air Suspension Control) is very much part of this trend and now offers an improved and extended range of functions: one example of this is the relievable axle which primarily improves manoeuvrability and helps to reduce wear.

The air suspension control boasts impressive stats, with up to 50% faster lifting and lowering times, as well as a high level of operating convenience. This function not only enables the truck's air suspension to be set remotely or via the multi-function steering wheel, but also that of the trailer/semitrailer.

Intelligent helpers in dense traffic

Better overview while driving, more safety for everyone: Our intelligent assistance systems help drivers to avoid dangerous situations.

Around the bend with an outside view

Caution – risk of accident! Knowing for sure whether the road is really clear is essential when turning. But the co-driver’s side of a truck in particular is difficult to check from the driver’s workplace. That’s why our turn assist keeps an eye on your MAN from the outside instead of from the inside: Two radar sensors – placed on the outside of the co-driver’s side – detect everything within a radius of almost 180° in the vicinity of the vehicle: Pedestrians, cyclists, obstacles.

If the road is not clear, the system warns the driver via LED lights on the A-pillar using three stages: “Object detected in warning area”, “Collision possible if journey is continued” and “Driver alert: Immediate intervention required!”

The double look over your shoulder

Every lane change requires the utmost attention. Our Lane Change Assist reassures drivers that they will not fail to see any of the other road users in the often busy traffic around them: Radar sensors monitor the lanes to the left and right of the vehicle up to 30 metres ahead and 80 metres to the rear. If the sensors detect a hazardous situation when changing lanes, the system warns the driver early on via LEDs on the A-pillars. The lane change support is active from a speed of 50 km/h (31 mph) onwards.

The perfect start into the day

Staircase-like anti-slip steps and a door opening angle of 89° ensure comfort at every step.

The new MAN TGM & MAN TGL ensure ergonomic entry and exit.

We care for your comfort

Winding your way through narrow alleys is part of the job. Doing the same whilst getting on and off the vehicle no longer is. The new MAN TGM & MAN TGL ensure ergonomic entry and exit for drivers:

  • Generous door opening angle of 89°
  • Wide and centrally positioned steps
  • Extra non-slip steps in grating design and practical strip edge
  • Entry lighting activation when the door is opened

The orientation of the steering wheel in your MAN can be adapted to your requirements.

Finally a vehicle which shapes around you

The steering wheel is now more flexible than ever: When at standstill, it can be completely folded forward into a horizontal position. Whilst driving, even a steep steering wheel angle like in a passenger car is possible. Full comfort in next to no time.

The cockpit: everything in view, everything under control

With the MAN TGM & MAN TGL, everything is clearly arranged, both externally and internally.

Instrument panel with optimised arrangement.

Intuitive instrument panel

Displays at convenient reading height, easy to reach control elements – both areas separated from one another, with each being arranged in logical groups.

/
An increased field of vision in the MAN TGM & MAN TGL.

Large field of vision

In order to support the driver even in heavy traffic, the cockpit and the instrument panel in the MAN TGM & MAN TGL have been lowered to increase the field of vision to the front and to the side of the cab.

Electric parking brake in the MAN TGM & MAN TGL.

Electric parking brake

The electric parking brake is located on the right-hand side next to the main display. It can be operated manually but is also engaged automatically when the vehicle is parked and releases again automatically when the vehicle moves off.

Tyre pressure control system with temperature display

Tyre pressure control system with temperature display

Early warning of potential damage: Thanks to sensor monitoring, the system immediately detects when the air pressure is not right or the tyres overheat and warns the driver of this. This can help the driver to avoid tyre blow-outs and fires and to increase the operating and driving safety.

/
Reversing Motion System

Reversing Motion System

Good overall view when reversing and manoeuvring: The standard camera at the rear of the solo truck helps you to see what is happening behind you on the cockpit display. This enables people or objects to be detected and provides a full view of trailers and semitrailers for coupling or hitching.

/
Sensor-enhanced fifth-wheel coupling

Sensor-enhanced fifth-wheel coupling

Coupling made more convenient: Three sensors mounted on the fifth-wheel coupling enable drivers to monitor the hitching and unhitching process from the comfort of their workplace. The connection status is shown in the display, making coupling processes significantly easier for the driver and preventing damage due to incorrect hitching and unhitching.

/
Traffic sign recognition

Traffic sign recognition

Does the 60 km/h limit from the roadworks still apply? To help the driver maintain an overview among a sea of road signs, traffic sign recognition detects the signage on the road ahead of the truck via a new video camera on the windshield and shows the currently applicable requirements in the display. If the driver exceeds the permitted speed limit, for example, a warning reminds them of the applicable rules.

/
Direct access to central assistance systems operating menu

Direct access to central assistance systems operating menu

Improved ease of use: The central operating menu for all assistance systems in the truck is now available at the push of a button. The intuitive operation and menu navigation means it is now significantly easier to configure assistance systems, particularly if there are frequent driver changes.

MAN OptiView

MAN OptiView

Ideal view: The MAN OptiView digital mirror replacement system ensures an outstanding overview of the traffic situation behind and to the side of the truck at all times. To provide optimal support for the driver, it can, for example, show an adjusted zoom or wide-angle view when cornering or manoeuvring. The system filters out glare and automatically adjusts what is shown on the display to the ambient brightness so that the camera image is always clear and easy to see. The removal of the external mirrors also increases the driver’s direct field of vision and improves the truck’s aerodynamics.
