The new MAN Infotainment

The radio is increasingly taking on the function of a central multimedia interface in the vehicle. A new generation of MAN infotainment devices is available to meet the requirements of the driver, e.g. for a flexible media selection. In addition to the two radios with 5-inch and 7-inch colour displays, there is a wide range of expansion options to choose from.

For the latest generation of the MMT from MY 2020, customers can again obtain optionally available additional functions according to their needs and requirements. This includes for example smartphone integration, giving the driver access to many smartphone apps and functions via the MMT. The portfolio will be gradually expanded even further in the future.

Operation via the multifunction steering wheel

The function enables the operation of telephony, radio and voice control system via the multifunction steering wheel:

• Initiating/answering/rejecting phone calls
• Switching audio sources
• Selecting the channel list/media title
• Activation/deactivation of optional voice control

Audio streaming via Bluetooth interface

Control/operate music playback via Bluetooth connection through the MMT user interface and/or through the multifunction steering wheel.

• Convenient option to play audio files from the mobile phone through the MMT via an active Bluetooth connection.
• All the advantages of the high-quality loudspeaker equipment matched to the driver’s cab can be used. No additional equipment/adapter cable is required.
• After the initial set-up (mobile phone – MMT), an automatic pairing between the two systems takes place at each restart when the Bluetooth function is active.

USB/ AUX-IN connection in the instrument panel

USB/AUX-IN connection integrated in the right edge of the centre console stowage compartment. The corresponding cut-out ensures an optimal fit.

• USB charging function (e.g. for mobile phones via USB connection cable)
• Connection option for external audio sources (e.g. MP3 player or mobile phone). Control via the MMT with USB connection possible.
• Advantages of the high-quality loudspeaker equipment matched to the driver’s cab can be used.
• Information (e.g. title, artist, album) of individual audio tracks is shown on the display of the MMT.
• Space for cup holder on the left remains free

Legally compliant use of mobile radio possible while driving. Connection of a mobile phone to the MMT via the Bluetooth connection.

• Telephone calls can be made comfortably and in perfect voice quality via the integrated Bluetooth hands-free system in the vehicle.
• A total of up to 10 telephones can be paired and thus automatically connected when detected.
• Access to phone data such as phone book, call lists, SMS and functions (make phone calls, read short messages etc.) via the MMT.

Requirements

Microphone cover must be replaced by microphone. Connection cable present in the vehicle – exception: Production period 08/2016-02/2017 as well as design-related for selected vehicle types.

Video function via USB/SD interface

• Decoding of all common video formats
• Video playback is controlled via the MMT and/or the multifunction steering wheel

• Video function only available when the vehicle is stationary

Camera preparation

• Preparation for connecting one or two cameras
• The camera image is output on the 7-inch colour display of the MAN Media Truck Advanced.
• Depending on the variant, activation of the camera or switching between cameras is effected automatically, e.g. when the reverse gear is engaged, and/or manually directly via the radio.
• Increased safety and damage prevention when reversing/manoeuvring by displaying the rear environment. Automatic switching when reverse gear is engaged – provides additional comfort and less strain on the driver.

Voice control

Voice control enables the management of various functions of the new MMT via voice inputs:

• Entering navigation destinations via one-shot voice control
• Dialling phone book contacts
• Call answering/connection
• Simple and quick activation of the voice control function via the multifunction steering wheel

Attention remains on the road since distractions caused by having to change focus are avoided.

SmartLink

MAN SmartLink enables use/operation of the existing apps on the smartphone/tablet via the MMT Advanced installed in the vehicle.

• After successful connection, apps supported by MAN SmartLink can be operated both via touch function on the MMT display and via the buttons on the multifunction steering wheel.
• Display of the apps on the high-resolution, easy-to-read 7-inch display
• Android and iOS operating systems are supported

• Vehicle with software status instrumentation (at least R38) and software status MMT (at least R57)

Navigation

Truck-specific satellite navigation possible, depending on the vehicle’s field of application. Includes map material for one region and annual update of map material (plus labour costs) until 2025.
