Green boom in the desert
- The emirate Abu Dhabi is constructing the eco-friendliest city in the world: The green urban setting that is Masdar City is only one of numerous investments in renewable energy that aims to make the emirate a pioneer in this area. Part of the concept is one of the world’s largest solar thermal power stations driven by a MAN Turbo steam turbine.

“Green Ship of the Future”
- MAN Diesel and major shipping company A.P. Møller-Maersk teamed up to contribute to more climate-friendly marine transport on the world’s oceans. A new development will be tested on board as early as July.

World’s largest wind/diesel hybrid power plant
- MAN Diesel, in collaboration with wind turbine manufacturer Enercon and planning and consulting firm Econcern, is building the world’s largest wind/ diesel hybrid power plant on the Caribbean island of Bonaire.

MAN starts series production of hybrid city buses
- MAN is set to launch series production of the MAN Lion’s City Hybrid city bus. A small series of these solo vehicles will be taken into regular service in several European cities from end of 2009.

Clockwork rotation
- On the Plataforma de Pampo, a drilling platform measuring 4,000 square meters off the Brazilian coast, MAN Turbo’s service team works in shifts to keep the oil production running smoothly – 24 hours, 365 days a year.

Taking stock of production
- It has been about a year since MAN Diesel restructured its production sites. In Germany, France, Denmark and soon also India, engines and components are turned out by a new production network. An intermediate assessment reports: The altered structure has paid off multifold.
